we started potty training 2 weeks ago. first we had to get the big boy underwear ! i had gotten a little potty at ikea for 99cents, i thought it looked a bit uncomfy so i figured it would be perfect to take along in the car and i would get a different one from the store. well i went to the store and saw the potties averaged about $30 and decided that he would just have to use the one i got. i was happy when he actually liked the cheap potty. maybe its different when your bottom is small enough to fit the potty i dont know but it really does look uncomfortable. i used the kids timer and set it every 30mins to give him a reminder and then if he went he would get 1 chocolate chip for number one and 2 for number two. he caught on immediately but had his occasional accidents. he also watched Potty Power several time (a kids movie that helps with potty training) and i LOVE that movie. we used it with the twins as well and they still like watching it. i never waited to see if he would go on his own i would just set the timer.
he stayed in diapers at night since he is such a hard sleeper. well now its been two weeks and he is now potty trained. he goes on his own without the timer and we are done with the "potty treats". last night was the first night he didnt sleep with a diaper only because he refused to. we have a waterproof cover on his mattress just incase but he woke up dry. i know that if he does need to potty at night he wont wake up he is such a sound sleeper he will wet the bed so im not sure if i will continue to keep him in underwear at night.
he was actually very easy. Jazlynn was 2 when she was potty trained and she was trained immediately i swear. she wet her self once and after that never again. i remember she cried and cried over the mess i think it traumatized her. shes always been a very clean child. Jayvin was 3 till he was potty trained. i started them at the same time trying to get them trained before ridge was born so i wouldnt have 3 kids in diapers at once but soon found out that Jayvin was far from ready. he has always been really sensitive so the last thing i wanted was to push the subject. so we stopped and then when he was almost 3 we tried again and that day he was trained. now ridge at almost 2 1/2 is trained and wearing big boy underwear! its almost brought out the big boy in him cause he talks better, cries less and listens more. he was never a hard child... just... different then the twins but still REALLY easy! now next thing we tackle is his bear and thumb lol i think we wait a while for that one!
